*In-person and online individual counseling in Pennsylvania and Delaware for adults ages 18 and up.

Hi, I’m Laurie and I’m glad you’re here!

*Licensed Professional Counselor

*Trauma focused and EMDR trained

*LGBTQ+ Ally

After many years as a teacher of young children, I returned to school to obtain a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and Trauma Studies from Eastern University, and I have been practicing since 2017. This experience was one of the most challenging and rewarding of my adult life.

My goal in this meaningful work is to create a safe space where you will feel supported in processing your challenges and become empowered in working toward resolutions. Each person comes to counseling with a unique set of needs and circumstances, and together, we will collaborate on your goals and the best course to achieve them.

The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important indicators of a successful counseling experience. It is extremely important to me that you find the best fit as you unpack your story and explore your truth. My belief is that as individuals we thrive and heal in community, and healing begins when a person feels seen, heard, and accepted. It is through this that we become our best selves. In leveraging our unique stories and experiences, we use our power to contribute to the healing and wellness of others. Healthy individuals make healthy communities. I’ll be with you as you take the next step.

What you can expect

As a counselor, I see my role as your partner, and I tailor my approach to meet each person where they are. Growth comes from challenge, and we will work at a pace and depth that is comfortable for you. Sometimes the smallest changes bring the biggest results. I believe in the reciprocal relationship between our mind, body, and spirit, and recognize that when one area is impacted it affects our whole being. We will work together to address how each area of your life may have been impacted and the best path to restoring wholeness.

I’m Here to Walk This Path With You.

The path to change is rarely linear.

Maybe you’re feeling stuck and are unsure how to start moving forward again. Or, perhaps you’ve experienced a stressful event and find yourself reliving it in your mind and body. Or, maybe you just don’t feel like yourself and aren’t sure where to begin.

Often times even welcome and expected life changes can present unexpected challenges. This can be especially true with parenting and the empty nest. Let’s work together to bring clarity and new meaning to this next chapter of your story.

In case you are wondering:

  • What is an adverse religious experience?

Religion can often be a positive part of life and community, bringing healing and connection. Other times, if it is used to coerce, control, or discourage individuality, autonomy, and free thinking, it can bring confusion, relational and religious trauma, and spiritual wounds, and is often very covert in nature. The field of religious trauma has gained clinical recognition and we acknowledge the validity and impact of adverse religious experiences. There is hope in the healing possibility of evolving faith and claiming-or reclaiming what is good. I welcome you to bring your faith into sessions, whatever that looks like for you. • What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an 8 phase comprehensive trauma treatment modality. It is a proven effective structured therapy that uses bilateral stimulation in the form of tapping or eye movements to allow the brain to process memories and metabolize them, or store them in a more adaptive way. Unlike other trauma treatment methods, EMDR does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue. To learn more about EMDR go to www.emdria.org

  • Other modalities

As a therapist, I utilize an integrative and holistic approach, using only evidence based methods. I use a blend of insight oriented and action oriented methods, drawing from strengths-based, cognitive behavioral, relational, and solution focused frameworks, and I believe that as the client, you are the expert in you. No doubt you have had many moments of strength and success which can be used in a new way for continued growth.

FAQs

  • Sessions are 50 minutes in length with a fee of $125. Think of therapy as an investment in yourself and your future. You are worth it!

While I do not work with insurance companies, I am able to provide a receipt or superbill to submit for out of network coverage. I advise you to check with your insurance company to inquire about out of network benefits.

  • Yes. I have found that telehealth offers ease of access and flexibility. This allows less wait time for scheduling, less time commuting, and allows you to log in from wherever you are. I also offer a limited number of in-person appointments in the borough of West Chester. Often people like to use a blend of both modalities to accommodate their busy schedules.

  • I accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and health savings cards through a HIPAA compliant electronic payment platform.
